What are some advantages of surveying, testing,or keeping track of employees productivity at work?
The theoretical advantages are numerous...Being able to identify your top performers, being able to identify your staff that aren't pulling their weight, being able to determine a baseline level of productivity required for the position, being able to come up with measureable incentives for future improved performance.
But these are all theoretical. It's much harder to quantify productivity in a knowledge-based position than it is say a manufacturing position. It's much harder to figure out WHAT is appropriate to measure and WHAT is appropriate to incent.
What are some advantages of surveying, testing,or keeping track of employees productivity at work?
The only real answer to that is to maintain a sufficient and efficient place of business. It's your bread and butter and if you like your place of employment, you'll do what is required by business policies to uphold those policies.
Reply:I worked 13 years for a company that "paid by performance" This meant we got a very small base salary and everything else was paid by production. Everything was measured. and once every month we had "award lunch" the company provided sack lunches for us and we got to recognize the top 3 performers in every area. AMAZING results! people want to know how they're doing and everyone loves recognition of some sort. Once a year we got a bonus based (again) on our production. I have been out of that company for 3 years now I just can't understand why every business does not do this. The company I'm at now, it's hard if you're the person that picks up the extra work (or slack) because there's no incentive (I mean beyond work ethic and responsibility) the folks that are "clocking in, doing time" are paid the same as the people "bustin their hump" to make their company look good. The production incentive is good for moral, good for the company, good for the customers, great for the business!!!!

Can your employer legally send a non-anonymous survey asking what kind of car you drive?
I work for a company closely tied to one of the "big 3" automakers and our company strongly pushes for the employees to support our client (the automaker) by suggesting we drive one of our client's types of cars. One day at work we were sent a mandatory email survey asking what kind of car we drive, any secondary car we drive and what kind of car our spouse drives. I'm curious if that's legal since our responses won't be anonymous. I'm concerned that a "wrong answer" will be a permanent mark on my work record, especially since there is pressure to drive a car that is made by our client.
Can your employer legally send a non-anonymous survey asking what kind of car you drive?
In the US -- It is legal to ask you. It does not have to be anonymous.
Reply:It's legal to ask but illegal to take any kind of action in response to that question and if they do you my friend, have a multi million dollar lawsuit drop into your lap. Don't worry, you will be fine.

Sure. I'll do the survey.
Tried and the survey form is flawed. Filled all the questions and it would not accept my completed info.

Question and survey about safety in the workplace?
This is in regards to record only claims at work i.e. breaking in of cars in the parking lot, missing or damaged items in a room of a hotel your are staying in. I need your help. I need public opinion.
Please help me feel out a survey and answer any or all of the following questions:
What actions could be taken to create a safer working environment (in addition to placing signs in the parking lot that say we are not responsible for missing/damanged items)?
What do you find most interesting about the topic of safety in the workplace?
Please list steps that could be implented to reduce risks (again, in addition to signs in parking lots)?
How could new employees be trained in order to instill safety involvement?
Question and survey about safety in the workplace?
The training you are after is "Parental Training". If a person hasn't been trained from infancy to be respectful of other peoples property then there is nothing you can do about it now. As for safety, people must recognize the dangers and understand that they are not immune to accidents either in the work place or anywhere else. When someone disregards safety it usually is because they don't think they can (or will) get hurt.
I took down a tree last year, and I made sure I wasn't going to fall out of the tree. I used safety harnesses and fall protective lanyards. While I didn't need to use them, they were there just in case a limb knocked me down. I knew I could fall, so I took precautions. People who don't think they are going to fall don't look out for pitfalls. That's usually when things go wrong.
Kudos to you for being concerned over these matters. Unfortunately, the powers that be need to take a positive stand on these issues. Until then, there is little more you can do but keep yourself safe and secure.
Good luck with that. :)
