Where can I find current employee salaries at Raytheon or Northrup?

I need to know if I'm being paid fairly at my current company as a Mechanical Engineer level 4. The salary surveys such as salaries.com aren't very accurate becuase they give you a range. I want to know what the employees in my position are being paid at these other companies. Are there any blogs or websites that employees share this information?

Where can I find current employee salaries at Raytheon or Northrup?
salaries.com get's the range from these companies. most companies have policies stating that sharing your salary is grounds for dismissal. I would check before going on any blogs.

Employee satisfaction surveys?

Is it acceptable for your manager to have a meeting with the entire staff to review anomymous employee satisfaction surveys and specific comments people wrote

Employee satisfaction surveys?
These only bring more problems since many people will complain and make it into a complaint session. People leave because of money and benefits which few companies offer.

This video explains it all

Is it smart? Of course not. Why would anyone express their honest opinion to this manager in the future? I sure wouldn't.

The Company Secretary is ONLY a senior employee and chief secretary of a company. Do you agree?

Over the years, the role, position and status of a company secretary has evolved. However, there're different opinions on the extent of authority a secretary has. For instance, most state that secretaries only have authority in administrative matters; but a research in 1984 by Monsted and Garside found that 73% of the company secretaries who responded to the survey said they were involved in the management of the company. The figure rose to 87% in 1990, and could be higher now.

The Company Secretary is ONLY a senior employee and chief secretary of a company. Do you agree?
I disagree, assuming you are refering to a corporation.

The Corporate Secretary is an officer of the corporation and the duties of the corporate secretary are defined by state law, and by the bylaws of the corporation.

The corporate secretary is an executive, who is authorized to sign stock certficates, and is the only officer authorized to sign resolutions of the Board of Directors and Shareholders.

Is it against the law to conduct a survey in Wal-Mart?

I am looking for anyone who has information about the legality of conducting a survey in Wal-Mart (asking it's employees questions concerning the store). Is there any law in Pennsylvania that prohibits this? Thanks.

Is it against the law to conduct a survey in Wal-Mart?
You are trespassing if you go into the store with the purpose of conducting a survey rather than shopping. Your invitation to be on the premisis only extends as a customer, when you step outside the bounds of that invitation, you are trespassing. Especially here, when you are proposing disrupting employees furing their workday. Your best bet is to wait outside for them, especially if there is a shared parking lot (so they can't claim you are trespessing there too).
Reply:I am sure that you will incure the wrath of the Wally World Mafia if you try to do something like this.
Reply:Walmart is private property and they can have you thrown out. And they will.
Reply:It's not against the law until they ask you to leave. Then it's trespassing, so ask fast because you'll get booted out of the store PDQ.
Reply:its not againstt the law. but it is probably agains Wal-mart policy. and they can kick you out at anytime. try to talk to the employees after their work shift.
Reply:No, but I can gaurantee that management will kick you out.

It's their store.

I need creative ideas for an employee insight action planning bulletin board?
Big clear lettering usually attracts people. Make it easy to interact with if it should be interacted with. (people are usually shy timid creatures around things like that) Use bold colour with out making it look like a school project. OR make it look like a school project (it would atract more attention) I'd put it a place for everyone to see

How can I get over nasty job survey results?

I manage a program for my company that many employees are a part of. As an attempt to improve it, I developed a survey and got the results back today. I was shocked at how nasty some people were in their responses! It's like, since it was anonymous they just let loose and didn't even try to be constructive, just mean. Now my feelings are really hurt and I'm feeling really discouraged. How can I get over this without feeling like everyone hates me???

How can I get over nasty job survey results?
well, it really depends on you... If the questions were about the program; you now have info to make adjustments to the program with the help of your colleagues... You can not let it bother you... You thought you were doing something good and what other people think shouldn't really matter... a lot of people hate change... Lord knows I do... but it will either get better with the information you have or not... the choice is yours...
Reply:Let me see you ask people to fill out a survey, want them to be honest, and when they are your feelings are hurt. "If you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen"!!
Reply:Well, this might be shocking, but this is a LOUD message. Many in HR or Company managment don't listen to the working crowd concerns. Don't plan to run either, deal with it. Develop more surveys to get to the issues and YOU develop constructive responses.

This is a Typical senerio - CRRAP gets handed out, violent CRRAP returns.

What did you expect, you didn't do your homework.
Reply:You are not alone. I've championed quality circles at the office and decided to do the same survey. Out of the 45 respondents, i received 29 responses questioning my capabilities. I really felt bad and was affected for a couple of days.

Because people are expecting me to show the results, I decided to just confront it and share the results. Right after posting the results, I wrote everyone a letter asking them to be very honest. Of course, I didn't get all to participate but I certainly was confronted by a couple of mean work rivals.

Bottom line is, I figured I wasn't at all communicating that much. When they told me what they hate about me, I had the chance to tell them my side. It was not at all pleasant but hey, at the end of the day, we were communicating. It was a big bold move but it made me put matters to rest.

Hope it was a help.
Reply:it seems you were looking for praise from the survey...take the survey results as if you were an outsider and not involved and look at the results again...constructive criticism is hard to take when it's directed at you...so take yourself out of the loop to review the results and you will feel better about the whole thing...how people feel towards you is irrelevant...if you think they hate you AFTER the survey, think about how they felt BEFORE it...nothing has changed...

Can a census bureau employee ask me questions on a college campus?

Does the national Census Bureau send employees to college campuses for surveys? Or is this a scam? What should i ask of the person to make sure this is real. Please logical and real answers.

Can a census bureau employee ask me questions on a college campus?
No, absolutely. All USCB employees will have ID and you can ask to see it. Secondly, you are considered (if you are living in a dorm) as occupying "group quarters"

I am pasting an answer regarding this from the US Census Bureau:

Yes, you can find the latest estimates of the population residing in group quarters (e.g., convents, prisons, college dorms, barracks, and nursing homes) on our population estimates site. On the home page, click on "Estimates" and then download the entire data set. Look for the group quarters population estimates under the "County Population Data Sets." Annual population estimates are given for the nation as a whole, states, and counties.

In the population and housing census, we gather data on the type of group quarters people live in. You can find group quarters data in varying detail in any of the four summary files from Census 2000. The most detailed data on type can be found in Table PCT 16 of Summary File 1; the PCT 17 tables provide age, sex, race, and Hispanic origin detail for this population by type. You can access the Census 2000 Summary Files in American FactFinder; click on "Data Sets."

Later this year, we will have group quarters data from the 2006 American Community Survey.

For a detailed discussion of the group quarters population, see Appendix B in the technical documentation for any of the Census 2000 Summary Files.

Best wishes and hope this helps. But BE CERTAIN TO ASK FOR AN ID!!!!
Reply:Whoever approached you is not from the federal government. A lengthy document (in the year of the census, 2010) will be sent to your home. Everyone is asked to fill out and return. About 1/10 of 1% of those will be selected randomly for an even lengthier in-home interview.

An ID'ed employee is sent out and asks permission. You are not required to submit, but it is helpful to the government.

Under NO circumstances does the US send people to campuses for a census count. I hope you didn't give this goof your social or your girlfriend's ph#.

1. A recent survey of banks revealed the following distribution for the interest rate being charged on a home?

2. If a bank is selected at random from this distribution, what is the chance that the interest rate charged on a home loan will exceed 8.0%?

3.The employees of a company were surveyed on questions regarding their educational background and marital status. 1. A recent survey of banks revealed the following distribution for the interest rate being charged on a home?

.35 +.06 = .41

41%

3. Of the 600 employees, 400 had college degrees, 100 were single, and 60 were single college graduates. The probability that an employee of the company is single or has a college degree is

400 college degrees + 100 single - 60 overlap = 440 single or college

4.The probability that house sales will increase in the next 6 months is estimated to be 0.25. The probability that the interest rates on housing loans will go up in the same period is estimated to be 0.74. The probability that house sales or interest rates will go up during the next 6 months is estimated to be 0.89. The probability that both house sales and interest rates will increase during the next 6 months is

p(a) = .25

p(b) = .74

p(a or b) = .89

p(a and b) = .74 + .25 - .89 = .10

10%
Reply:this is just a discrete distribution...exceeds 8%...so what is the probability that it's going to be 8.5% or greater (the word "exceeds" here implies that you're looking for the probability that it's going to be strictly greater than 8%), and these are disjoint sets, so it's just the sum:

P(interest = 8.5%) + P(interest %26gt; 8.5%) = 0.35 + 0.06 = 0.41

3. this can be solved by inclusion/exclusion, i believe...

so # that are either single or college graduates...well, you know 400 had college degrees...100 are single...60 are single college graduates...

so #(either single or college grads) = #(single) + #(college grads) - #(single college grads) = 400 + 100 - 60 = 440

divide this by the total number of employees, namely 600, to get P(single or college grad) = 440/600 = 11/15

4)

inclusion/exclusion again...

P(house sales increase) + P(loan rates increase) - P(house sales AND loan rates increase) = P(house sales increase OR loan rates increase)

or working with knowns,

P(house sales increase) + P(loan rates increase) - P(house sales increase OR loan rates increase) = P(house sales AND loan rates increase)

plug in what you know:

0.25 + 0.74 - 0.89 = 0.10 = P(house sales AND loan rates increase)

--------------------------------------...

A note about inclusion/exclusion:

the reason you do this is so that you're not counting pieces more than once...like say you have A and B, denote the intersection as Int(A,B), and the union as U(A,B)...so the number of items in U(A,B) is going to be the number in A plus the number in B, minus whatever's counted twice, namely the ones in both A and B..in mathematical terms, you get

U(A,B) = A + B - Int(A,B)...and you can do this with as many sets as you wish, although the things get messier...for 3 sets,

U(A,B,C) = A + B + C - Int(A,B) - Int(B,C) - Int(A,C) + Int(A,B,C)

Survey:How long must an employer hold a job open if employee is out because of accident or illness?

FMLA law says 12 weeks I believe. (Family Medical Leave Act)

they cannot fire you under this law, but they can find a way around it if there was impending termination.

and even then they do not have to have the same job available for you when you return. just employment @i believe equal pay

this only applies to companies with more than 55? employees and you must have had at least a minimum amount of time put in there (sorry, not real specific, i know) check with FMLA. if I wasn't heading out right now, I would.

tell them its mostly safty applications. if they cant fill out a coulple papers... how much will they contribute to the busness?
Reply:Hi Violet,

Survey response rates are influenced by so many factors ...

• Your invite copy

• Your invite subject line

• Whether you offer an incentive to complete

• The size of your survey (eg. time commitment)

• The user friendliness of your questionnaire

• The time of day and day of week you send the invite out.

• Whether you send a reminder.

• Confidentiality assurances - and how well you allay these concerns

• How often you survey, and whether you have acted on the feedback received in previous surveys

• The employee's relationship with / respect for the person managing the survey process.

... I have researched all of these and tried to summarise them in an article hosted on our website. I hope you find it useful:

What are some good questions to ask a new employee as part of a get-to-know-you survey?

And what questions should we have them ask their peers?

What are some good questions to ask a new employee as part of a get-to-know-you survey?
Tell me about yourself.

What would your best friend tell me about you if I asked him/her?

What would your worst enemy tell me about you if I asked him/her?

What would your pastor tell me about you if I asked him/her?

What do you like to do in your spare time?

What do you not like to do in you spare time?

What is it that draws you to people you like - or, in other words, why do you like the people you like?

What is is that turns you away from people you don't like, or, in other words, why do you not like the people you don't like?

How do you like working here, so far?

What did you like most about your previous job? Why? What did you like least? Why?

If you had the authority to make changes at this company, what is the first thing you would change? Why?

If you had not been hired at this company, what would have been your next choice of employment?

What was your favorite subject in school? Why? Your least favorite? Why?

There are many more questions you can ask. Just think a little. You want to be careful that you don't ask personal questions, and try not to ask questions that require a yes or no answer. You want to ask questions that will get the employee talking about himself/herself if it's a get-to-know-you session.

By the way, you can't get to know a person with a survey. I hope you didn't really mean to use the word "survey." You get to know people by speaking with them.

Do I really need to conduct pre-test and re-test for an Employee Opinion Survey?

I'm handling only 40 employees. I am attempting to know their opinion about the company...their job... etc. Can i just give them the survey form I created?

Do I really need to conduct pre-test and re-test for an Employee Opinion Survey?
No, that would not be necessary.

The pretest and retest would mainly come into play if you are using aptitude and personality tests to SCREEN propsective employees and new hires... but not for guaging employee sentiments.

You would want to make the test as non-descript as possible to allow the employee to voice their full opinion without disclosing who they are. You are more likely to get more honest opinions that way...

Good luck..

I need to know what are the questions that I should Add in my Survey in order to make an effective research regarding communication problems in my Organisation

I need to send a survey to employee to give me their incite on what are our organizational communication issue
Hi

Well most people are not going to give you this because they sell the surveys! this is intellectual property, they have invested in and wont want to give away.

The real question is why do you believe there is an issue?

What information do you have at the moment?

The best surveys are ones that are developed around your company issues, structures and needs.

There are some great books and packs available commercially that can help here = one in particular comes to mind - "activities for unblocking organizational communication".

Communications or culture?

Often people claim 'communications here are bad' this is a generic complaint but often this is the SYMPTOM not the underlying problem. Often the real issues are with goals, management style and organizational culture.

If you use an organizational diagnostic approach (much more broad based) then this will not only cover communications but culture and style issues too.

Developing these tools is expensive, as they have to give you meaningful results. Look at http://www.rapidbi.com/created/free_busi... or http://www.rapidbi.com/bir/culture.html for examples of some.

Others include: http://www.shl.com/SHL/en-int/Products/A...

or http://www.amazon.com/Diagnosing-Organiz... ( a little light on actual activities after analysis)

If you are looking for satisfaction and engagement survey questions Google Gallup Q12 - and you can find some great questions, but not specific enough for you to develop a solution to any identified communication issues.

Hope this helps your thinking

Can an employer make an employee take a survey that will "better the company" mandatory? Do I have any rights?

The survey will be administered by a third party and I have been told that it is mandatory. Supposedly all of your answers are to help the large corporation better themselves. If I take the survey I will only answer the questions politically correct - not honestly. Everyone I talked to about it says they will not be honest. They fear retaliation even though it is stated by HR that there will not be any consequences. Do I have the right to refuse?

Can an employer make an employee take a survey that will "better the company" mandatory? Do I have any rights?
It is perfectly lawful for them to require that you take the survey, providing that no questions ask you to reveal anything that is protected by law.

Should you refuse to take the test, you can be terminated or disciplined. If you plan to answer dishonestly, you might want to keep that to yourself. The company is able to discipline you for willfully providing false information.
Reply:Will YOUR name be attached to the answers ? If not, be honest, if you will be invisible .

On the other hand, what are you afraid of ?

Does you employer have a history of being unfair to the employees ? Many large corporations do this to acheive better results in their operations.
