What do you do with a pain in the *** co-worker?

I work with an older woman who is lazy and very uncomfortable to work with. She hardly does any work and spends most of the day sitting around eating or talking. She is always watching everyone to make sure things are being done right, but as soon as someone "slips-up" even if it's something small she reports it. The scary thing is, that she doesn't even take the time to appoach the person with her concerns instead she just goes straight to the boss. Just reciently two people got fired because of her, so everyday everyone has to walk on eggshells to make sure they do things right so they don't get called into the bosses office to get couseled (or fired). Well, I've had enough and it's time that she get's a taste if her own medicine, but I'm not sure what to do. What do you suggest?? I was thinking of a survey be handed out to all employees to petition her out. Do you have any ideas?

In every work environment you will always find that one person who just comes to work to make evryone else's life a living hell. I think it would be best if you did the petition among the employees and then a group of you go into the boss and dicuss the situation. Tell him/her that all the other employees are extremely uneasy because of this one person who is not really contributing to the amount of production. Her work attitude is poor and she needs to change that in order for everyone to be the best at their job. Ensure that you guys point out that she is constantly watching you and its a very stressful and uncomfortable situation which you hope can be rectified in the quickest possible time.

The end result either she eases up on the monitoring of the employees or she gets the pink slip - Its a win/win situation.
Reply:Record everyone talking about how bad a coworker she is and set her up!!
Reply:Do your job and the way to throw her under the bus will happen. Don't do the petition thing. That's so junior-high.
Reply:Seriously, you may need a new job. Toxic is right! If management actually likes a snitch, then that's not good management. They are encouraging this toxic environment.

If you ahppen to be in a position where another job seems impossible (like you're rural, need a car pool to be able to make ends meet, hey, it happens, you know), then probably the second person's attitude is correct.

But remember to have mercy and compassion on such people- not by interacting, just by soothing your own mind with peace and forgiveness.

This person is harder on herslef than she is on anyone else. That's the way it is with those types.

Pray for her, or wish her well, whatever.

But if you ever have to turn it around on her, just remember to ahve a few things written down.

Write them down now, then forget it.

Protect yourself now, and let it go.
Reply:I suggest you don't get within 10 feet of this woman. Do NOT fight fire with fire. Just review your job description COMPLETELY and be sure to stick to the organisation's Standard Operational Procedures. Also be sure that you're always on time. Don't fuel her fire...it will soon burn out...Pay her no heed...do not keep her company. She can be classified as a 'toxic' person and we need to keep those out of our lives.

It would also help a great deal to redirect your energy from worrying about her to doing a great job...Focus also on the opposites of what she's brings to the workplace...that way, she will indeed fade away and the workplace will improve.
