I need hard data on the benefits of employee development, employee training programs, human capital investment

Surveys, reports, graphs, etc. would be most helpful, to be used for a paper on the benefits and ROI of employee training programs this paper must include all my resources. I can find general information at SHRM and ASTD about increased loyalty and retention. I'm trying to find information that shows the $$ relationship to increased productivity, retention, etc. Specific reference and reports would be most helpful.

I need hard data on the benefits of employee development, employee training programs, human capital investment
The consultants Watson %26amp; Wyatt conducted a fairly comprehensive study a few years ago to provide exactly that information. The final report was called the Human Capital Index (HCI). Its purpose was to demonstrate statistical correlations between shareholder value and certain human resource practices. Watson Wyatt also produced a study called WorkUSA 2000, that demonstrates a statistical correlation between various areas of employee satisfaction and the corresponding increase in market/shareholder value associated with them. Two of the authors of the above studies, Bruce Fau and Ira Kay, also summarized the finding in an excellent book called "The Human Capital Edge."

This is hard data, rather than ruminations on how treating people well, etc will pay off. The book correlates certain HR practices (e.g. "Employees have input on hiring decisions + .5%" and "Pay is linked to company business strategy + 1.2%") with the percent increase in market/shareholder value associated with that practice. I believe you can get a fuller breakdown of the numbers from the HCI.

If you're looking for hard ROI data, I haven't seen anything better than this. And there are some real surprises, such as employee access to training being correlated with a 5.6% DECREASE in market/shareholder value (the authors discuss possible reasons for this counterintuitive result).

What to buy my 4 female employees this year.?

I supervise four female employees who all work full time. I was going to buy them nice desk calendars, but I heard on the radio that a recent survey says that employees really don't like them. (I usually ask for one when my kids ask what I want for Christmas)

Additionally I have 9 part time employees, should I get them something too?

What to buy my 4 female employees this year.?

Employee Involvement in YOUR workplace?

Can you please tell me what kind of employee involvement shemes you have at your workplace, and if you could tell me a bit about them and whether they have been/ are effective?

(eg. suggestion schemes, newsletters, quality circles, attitude surveys?)

MANY THANKS!

Employee Involvement in YOUR workplace?
Perhaps when you find out these answers, you could forward them to my superiors. Employee involvement at my work place seems to be reduced to signing the weekly birthday card of coworkers and tallying how much revenue is lost buy people stealing post-it notes and pens. Ah, the joys of being an office monkey.

How many concurrent users can Microsoft access handle?

hi

I am looking forward to build a survey tool for my internal oragnization in my company

So i was wondering if i build asp.net driven front end and microsoft access as backend.

No of employees taking survey would be approximate 1000.

and DB should be able to handle concurrent request at the busiest hour of the week e.g. Friday 12-5 or Monday morning around 8-12.

Can access handle such rush ? or any other solutions suggestions are welcome too :)

How many concurrent users can Microsoft access handle?
Another poster answered your question well. I'd like to add that if you indeed do go with access, you can expect to get 5-10 concurrent users up and running before msaccess becomes unstable and/or slow.
Reply:If you are familiar with SQL you can use Microsoft SQL Express 2005 (which is free) for a much more robust back end. 1000 users hitting an access DB won't be great in terms of speed or data integrity so maybe you can space them out in teams of 200-300....

Survey: Are companies being mean, not allowing their employees to access IM at work?

I'm 53. My name is none of your business. I've never been reprimanded. I was fired once, from a part-time job that I wanted to quit, anyway. I think if you haven't been fired at least once from a job, you haven't really lived!

Reply:My name is Denise and I'm 22. I used to work at this elementary school with two kindergarten teachers. One was very mellow and the other one took everything like it was life or death. If I was slow with something or it was wrong, she would freak out. When she left me alone with the kids and they got noisy she told me that I wasn't keeping them quiet instead of yelling. I tried talking to her and she says she doesn't get mad and doesn't mean to it but it still hurt. The mellow teacher started getting grumpy with me the 3rd year also so I decide to leave their class and worked at a high school. I worked at the high school my cousins go to and walked to their house to get picked up there by my parents since I don't drive. The teacher was very nice and never reprimanded me for nothing. Well the assistent principal did becuase she heard this rumor which wasn't true that I said I liked someone at the school. I told her that it wasn't true and she believed me but she told me, "if it happened to be true than you should stop." She was being nice but I wished she wouldn't have said that becuase she did believe me but it sounded like she didn't. I explained to her that I have cousins in that school and I talk to them. After that I was careful of what we talked about and if we wanted to say something, we waited till we got home. I'm working in a different high school, which is the one I went. I hope I have a smooth ride there, since my ex bf goes there.
